Mrs. Blackie - K1 News
Welcome to Kindergarten! 2020-2012
Hello everyone,
We have had a great first week! We have been getting to know each other, our classroom, our procedures/routines, meeting new friends and we will celebrate our first birthday on Monday! When it is the child's birthday celebration, they will be the Star Student for the day. Otherwise, everyday we have a Star Student who leads the line and some activities. We have a class list that we follow.
We have a new friend joining us on Monday, his name is Aiden so please chat with your child about welcoming someone new to the class.
School Supplies - Thank you for sending in the school supplies...the children are excited to have them. I appreciate you labelling them too as it is easier to return a missing item to the right child. If you could also send in 1 large ziploc bag it would be greatly appreciated to use for your child's little readers in their book bins. This week we will be learning/reviewing cutting, gluing and how to hold a pencil.
For next week, we are having whole class sharing, where we each take turns to share/talk about whatever your child would like. If they choose to bring in an item - please let it be ONE that is put in a plastic bag. Your child will be able to share it but then after it goes right back into their backpack.
September 29 we will begin to have our more formal sharing and I will be sending a note home about your child's specific day and their first topic.
At Brentwood we are very fortunate to have specialist teachers - Mme. Scott teaches French, Mrs. Robinson teaches Music and we have a Teacher Librarian - Miss Brown. Our Library time is Thursday so your child will be bring home 1 book next week. We ask that they get returned by Wednesday so they can be properly cleaned before they are shelved.
If you have not yet sent any school forms, please do so ASAP.
Calendar Reminders:
Toonies for Terry- We will be collecting money starting next week for the yearly Terry Fox Run. More details to come.
September 28 - Non-instructional day - children not in session
September 30- Orange Shirt Day - Acknowledge All Children Matter - Residential Schools
October 9 - Picture Day
If you have any questions, please email me or once the children are dismissed at the end of the day, feel free to chat.
I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to see all the children on Monday!
