T1 English Language Arts

​​English Language Arts Term 1

Over term 1 in English Language Arts we will be exploring the following content:

Writing/Oral: Throughout the term, we will be looking at how to revise our work and and expand our ideas in order to write grammatically correct sentences. Students will work on developing sounds to spell and write with more accuracy for the targeted grade level, with a focus on explicit rules and patterns. We will look at creating meaning through creative writing with our lens being poetry. We will explore looking at perspective, audience and creativity in language. Students will be encouraged to develop a better understanding of sentence formation and proper punctuation.

Grammar: We will be exploring English versus French sounds through games and word-making activities. We will also be looking at how to make complete sentences, "juicy" sentences (with adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions).
