French Term 1 

Over term 1 in French Language Arts we will be exploring the following notions:

Writing: In line with our English Language programme, we will be exploring how to use language to create meaning with a focus on poetry. Printing skills will be reviewed and students will be encouraged to work on expanding their ideas in writing. We will be looking at deconstructing the elements of a sentence and start to work on revision strategies for our work (on going throughout the year). Complete ideas demonstrating evidence of reflection and moving past the "visible" will be our focus to expand our writing!

Grammar: Again, in line with the English Language Arts programme, we will be exploring English versus French sounds through games and word-making activities. We will also be looking at how to make complete sentences and "juicy" sentences (with adjectives). Our focus will aim at being able to write well, thought out and grammatically correct phrases using personal pronouns, articles (le, la, les) and adjectives. We will be specifically focussing on how to write in the present tense.

Reading: This term’s focus will be on strategies for increasing comprehension skills. We will be doing small group reading to support an in-school programme while using our class "Club de français" home reading programme to support at-home learning.This will be on going throughout the school year.

Oral: we will be practicing oral language through in-class peer communications at Free Time, skits and reader's theatre. This will be on going throughout the school year.
